Germany’s largest manufacturer of welding technology opens a site in Wittstock

EWM AG, Germany’s largest supplier of arc welding technology is opening a new site in Wittstock. At the 2,000-square-metre sales and technology centre, a one-of-a-kind in the north-east of Germany, EWM provides a comprehensive range of welding technology as well as extensive application-oriented consulting services. The welding technology manufacturer is kicking off the opening with an in-house trade fair at the new premises on 21 September, starting at 1:00 pm. Interested visitors can see the innovative EWM welding technology first hand. The opening event focuses on practical welding demonstrations and exciting presentations..

EWM has invested 3.8 million euros in its further growth in north-eastern Germany. In addition to the site in Rathenow, Germany’s largest manufacturer of welding technology now also has its own sales and technology centre in Brandenburg. The supplier of complete arc welding technology solutions now operates a total of 14 sites in Germany. “We want to be the largest specialist welding supplier in eastern Germany,” remarks Toralf Pekrul, EWM site manager of the Wittstock and Rathenow sites. “The sales and technology centre here in Wittstock is the only one of its kind to date, and it is a perfect base for achieving that goal. From here, we can support our customers quickly and competently on all issues involving welding technology.” One crucial aspect of deciding on this location was its excellent transport connection: the new building is situated right along the A24 motorway, the east-west connection between Berlin and Hamburg, and near the A19 motorway toward Rostock. For EWM customers, this is a great advantage, because it guarantees short reaction times thanks to local contact persons.

Cutting-edge equipment

The welding technology manufacturer is starting with 14 employees at the new site, with a medium-term plan to increase the number of employees to up to 40. The design of the workstations is highly ergonomic – both in the offices and in the service and application technology departments. Site manager Toralf Pekrul was particularly pleased about one detail during the construction of the new facility: “Stairs, banisters and roof extensions were welded by local metal workers and customers with EWM machines.”

All-round support from one supplier

EWM is one of the technology leaders in the field of welding technology and provides all of the components needed for an excellent welding result, all from one source. Apart from a 1,150-square-metre warehouse space, a large section of the new facility is dedicated to application technology, where the latest EWM welding machines and also welding robots and automation components for practical applications are available. Site manager Toralf Pekrul reports that comprehensive welding technology consulting in particular is becoming increasingly important in day-to-day customer contact: “If the customer requests it, we take on the responsibility for the entire welding process. We focus on providing application-oriented all-round support.” EWM also plans to conduct regular specialist events and welding technology demonstrations at the new site.
