Today is World Bee Day and as you already know, on 28 April 2021 we welcomed 50,000 new buzzing co-workers to our team.
So, what better time to give you a little update on our bees.
On 3 May, the beekeeper visited our site and prepared the frames. We apprentices helped to secure the centre panels using a transformer. The smoker was then prepped with fuel to calm the bees so that we could work on the boxes. Once we had put on our protective clothing, the next step was to inspect the boxes for queen cells and remove any we found. To finish, the frames were carefully inserted and, once complete, the boxes were closed again.
